Welcome to the Women in Security Committee

The Women in Security (WIS) Committee is dedicated to empowering and supporting women in the security industry. The committee promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion within the ASIS Puget Sound Chapter by providing mentorship, networking, and professional development opportunities tailored to the needs of women security professionals. The Committee Chair advocates for women’s representation and leadership in the security field while fostering a supportive and collaborative environment for all members.

Key Mission

  1. Outreach and Engagement

    • Build and maintain relationships with women security professionals and organizations supporting gender diversity in the industry.
    • Promote ASIS Puget Sound membership and Women in Security initiatives to attract and engage women security professionals.
    • Represent the chapter at women-focused events, conferences, and community programs to build awareness and partnerships.

  2. Program Development and Coordination

    • Design and implement initiatives such as workshops, panel discussions, and networking events to address the unique challenges faced by women in the security profession.
    • Collaborate with chapter leadership to integrate diversity and inclusion goals into broader chapter programming.
    • Facilitate access to resources and training opportunities that support career advancement for women in security.

  3. Mentorship and Advocacy

    • Establish mentorship programs to connect experienced women professionals with early-career members for guidance and support.
    • Advocate for increased representation of women in chapter leadership roles and the security profession at large.
    • Recognize and celebrate the achievements of women in the security industry through events and communication channels.

  4. Community Building

    • Foster an inclusive environment where women security professionals feel welcomed, supported, and valued.
    • Encourage collaboration and knowledge-sharing among members through discussion groups, forums, and networking opportunities.
    • Act as a liaison to ensure that the voices of women in security are heard and represented within chapter leadership.

  5. Strategic Planning and Reporting

    • Develop an annual plan for Women in Security initiatives that aligns with the chapter’s mission and strategic goals.
    • Track participation, engagement, and outcomes for Women in Security programs and provide regular reports to chapter leadership.
    • Identify emerging issues and opportunities to advance gender equity in the security field and propose actionable solutions.

Committee Chair Qualifications

Experience:

    • Experience in program development, advocacy, or community engagement, preferably within a nonprofit or professional association.
    • Familiarity with the security industry and its professional challenges is highly desirable.

Skills:

    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Passion for promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within professional settings.

    • Membership Growth: Increase in women security professionals joining the chapter and participating in WIS programs.
    • Event Success: Attendance and positive feedback from Women in Security events and initiatives.
