The Cybersecurity and Technology Committee leads efforts to enhance the chapter’s understanding and engagement with cybersecurity and technological advancements in the security industry. This committee focuses on promoting awareness, education, and collaboration regarding emerging cyber threats, technology-driven solutions, and best practices. The Committee Chair serves as a resource for chapter members, fostering innovation and bridging the gap between physical and digital security realms.

Key Mission

  1. Cybersecurity Awareness and Education

    • Develop programs to educate chapter members about emerging cybersecurity threats, risks, and solutions. 
    • Organize webinars, workshops, and training sessions focusing on topics such as ransomware, network security, data protection, and incident response. 
    • Provide access to relevant certifications and training resources, such as CISSP, CISM, or cybersecurity fundamentals.
  2. Technology Integration and Innovation

    • Promote the adoption of cutting-edge technologies (e.g., AI, IoT, cloud security) within the security industry. 
    • Collaborate with chapter leadership to integrate technology topics into events and initiatives. 
    • Identify and showcase innovative security solutions that benefit members and the broader community.
  3. Industry Partnerships and Networking

    • Build relationships with cybersecurity organizations, technology companies, and thought leaders. 
    • Facilitate knowledge-sharing between physical security professionals and cybersecurity experts. 
    • Represent the chapter at cybersecurity and technology conferences, panels, and expos.
  4. Community Outreach and Collaboration

    • Partner with educational institutions and training programs to support cybersecurity talent development. 
    • Advocate for cybersecurity awareness in the Puget Sound region through campaigns and public programs. 
    • Engage with local businesses to promote cyber resilience and preparedness.
  5. Strategic Planning and Reporting

    • Develop an annual plan for cybersecurity and technology initiatives aligned with the chapter’s mission. 
    • Monitor and report on participation, engagement, and outcomes of related programs. 
    • Identify trends and gaps in cybersecurity knowledge among members and propose actionable solutions.

Committee Chair Qualifications

Experience:

    • Background in cybersecurity, IT, or technology-driven security solutions. 
    • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or equivalent are highly desirable. 
    • Experience in program development, training, or nonprofit leadership preferred.

Skills:

    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, technologies, and best practices. 
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills for sharing technical topics with diverse audiences. 
    • Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while fostering collaboration.

    • Program Participation: Attendance and feedback from cybersecurity-related events and initiatives. 
    • Membership Engagement: Increased member involvement in technology-focused programs.
