The Military Committee serves as the primary liaison between ASIS Puget Sound Chapter and military communities, fostering engagement, collaboration, and professional development for active-duty service members, veterans, and transitioning military personnel. This committee aims to bridge the gap between military experience and the security industry by promoting career opportunities, mentorship, and networking. The Committee Chair ensures that military professionals have access to the resources and support they need to succeed in the private security sector while enriching the chapter’s initiatives through their unique perspectives and expertise.
Key Mission

Military Outreach and Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with military bases, veteran organizations, and transition assistance programs in the Puget Sound region.
- Promote ASIS Puget Sound membership and professional development opportunities to active-duty and veteran military personnel.

Represent the chapter at military and veteran-focused events, including job fairs, career workshops, and community programs.

Professional Development Support
- Develop programs tailored to military personnel transitioning into the security industry, including resume-building workshops, interview preparation, and career mapping.
- Facilitate access to certifications, training, and educational resources, such as the Certified Protection Professional (CPP) or Physical Security Professional (PSP).

Collaborate with the Professional Development Chair to organize events and initiatives that support career growth for military members.

Mentorship and Networking
- Establish a mentorship program connecting military members with experienced security professionals to guide their career transitions.
- Organize networking opportunities to integrate military members into the broader security community.

Highlight success stories of veterans and transitioning service members who have excelled in the security field.

Event Coordination and Participation
- Partner with the chapter leadership to host military-focused events, such as appreciation ceremonies, seminars, or panel discussions featuring veteran leaders in security.
- Ensure military perspectives are represented in chapter activities and programs.

Promote chapter events to military communities to encourage participation and integration.

Strategic Planning and Reporting
- Develop an annual plan for military engagement initiatives that aligns with the chapter’s mission and strategic goals.
- Track participation, engagement, and outcomes for military-focused programs, providing regular reports to chapter leadership.
- Identify emerging needs and opportunities for the military community within the security industry and propose actionable solutions.
Committee Chair Qualifications
Experience:

- Active or former military service strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with the security industry and its career pathways is highly desirable.

Experience in mentorship, career coaching, or nonprofit programming is a plus.
Skills:

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for building relationships across diverse communities.
- Ability to manage and execute multiple programs simultaneously.
